The Replacement Beat

By Lynzee McKay

Tilly Franklin has spent years telling other people's stories. As a photojournalist at Boston's WDTV, they're comfortable behind the camera, observing life rather than fully participating in it. The newsroom is familiar. Predictable. Safe.

Savannah Wells arrives determined to prove herself. Driven, composed and carrying burdens of her own, Savannah quickly disrupts the careful balance Tilly has built.

What begins as an uneasy working relationship gradually evolves into something neither of them expected as shared assignments, breaking news and long hours in the newsroom draw them closer together. But learning to trust another person means confronting the past, risking vulnerability and allowing themselves to be truly seen.

Set against the fast-paced world of local television news, The Replacement Beat is a heartfelt sapphic romance about found family, healing and discovering that love can change the story entirely.
