The Religion of Self-Improvement: When Grace Becomes Performance, People Suffocate

By W. Adam Greer

The Religion of Self-Improvement

When Grace Becomes Performance, People Suffocate

What if many believers are not exhausted because they lack faith...

But because they were taught to relate to God through pressure, fear, and performance instead of grace?

In The Religion of Self-Improvement, W. Adam Greer confronts one of the most common yet rarely questioned assumptions in modern Christianity: that spiritual transformation is primarily the result of trying harder.

Drawing deeply from Paul's writings in Galatians and Romans, Greer explores the difference between:

Conviction and condemnationGrace and lawSonship and slaveryTransformation and performanceUnion and self-salvation

This is not a call to lower holiness.

It is a call to rediscover source.

Because the law can expose sin...

But it cannot create life.

Through twelve thought-provoking chapters, readers are invited to reconsider what spiritual transformation was always meant to flow from:

Not fearNot pressureNot self-salvationBut union with The Christ Himself

If you've ever felt spiritually exhausted...
If you've ever wondered why striving never seems to produce rest...
If you've ever felt trapped in endless cycles of trying harder, failing, and starting over...

This book offers a different invitation.

One rooted not in performance, but in grace.

Not in anxiety, but in belonging.

Not in self-improvement, but in life.

Because grace was never meant to become another ladder to climb.

And The Christ is enough.

Completely.
