QUEEN ELIZABETH became the monarch before most of us, most of our mothers, and most of our grandparents were even born. She was a fixed point on a rotating axis. As part of her public duty, she frequently attended cultural events. Horse racing, photography, and dogs, particularly her Pembroke Welsh corgis, were some of her favorite pastimes. Much speculation around her opinions on politics and other topics. She had never granted a newspaper interview and was not generally known for airing private ideas.
