Can an absent mother's love save her child? Sadie rummages her memory for every proverb her mother uttered; they become her mantras. Her before-drugs' mother always tried to see goodness everywhere... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have worked with all kinds of children. Hurt and abused children, shut down and are hard to reach. This book is a perfect example of how that happens. These kids are often not the easiest children to be around--and why would they be? This book ought to be a best seller--up there with Angela's Ashes and All Over But the Shoutin'. It tells a straight story--and no where does it minupulate your feelings. You just experience what Sadie does and become as hurt and confused as she does. Sadly, today, it is not an unfamiliar story; but his one does offer hope. By the end, Sadie, in spite of all the abuse is finding her way. Read it and have a hanky near by.
