She forgot she loved him. He would die to make her remember. Meg Foxcroft has never minded the tattling village gossip or her uncle's ill-tempered rebukes. After all, she has Tom McGwen--and one day, they will build their own cottage, paint it red, and live a wonderful life. But then the unthinkable happens. Meg is attacked, her uncle's apothecary shop goes up in flames, and when she wakes up in the arms of an eloquent lord, she remembers nothing. Not even her own name. In a frantic race against time, Tom plunges into dangerous water, bent on sheltering Meg from harm and discovering who wants her dead. Even if she despises him. Even if it's now the handsome lord she casts her smile upon. As danger swells and truth comes crashing around them, Meg must confront the past and decide who she trusts--and loves--before the enemy makes the final strike. The author is at the top of her game with this Gothic Regency Romance that has all the elements to keep you turning pages quickly. This is one story that keeps you guessing and trying to figure out who is behind the murderous intents against Meg. I was captivated with the carefree life and sweet romance that Tom and Meg share until tragedy changes everything. Tom’s love for Meg is never ending and he will do whatever it takes to protect her. The characters feel so real and the writing style flows from one scene to the next flawlessly. I found this to be picturesque storytelling as I could envision scenes as I read especially the red cottage and the barefoot beach scenes. I found this to be my most recent favorite read. I highly recommend settling in and planning to stay up late as you will not want to put it down once you start.

New book from Hannah Linder!

This book was really good, even if a little confusing at times. It is based in Cornwall, England in 1811, which I liked, and the main character Meg, who came from a small town in humble circumstances, had her beau to marry Tom, but she ended up with amnesia after a nasty fire where she was hit on the head, and carried off to the forest, and left there. The handsome Lord Cunningham, master of the nearby Penrose Abbey, finds Meg in the forest, and while she is still passed out from the hit on her head, Lord Cunningham takes her back to Penrose, and cares for her while she recovers. When Meg finally wakes, she finds Lord Cunningham standing beside her bed, but doesn't recognize him, his home, or even who she herself is, or where she came from. She does remember her name, but that's it!
While she is recovering, Lord Cunningham, whose name is Benedict, allows this beautiful woman who has no idea about her life, to stay at his abbey, as that's what a gentleman does, but he soon finds out that she indeed has a past, and that her beau, Tom, is searching for Meg, because she just up and disappeared under strange circumstances! As Benedict spends more time with Meg, they become close, and he is glad she stumbled into his life. Meg tries hard to remember her life, but to no avail, and comes face to face with Tom, who finally finds her after much searching, but she hasn't a clue who he is! Tom realizes he must start over with Meg, but that isn't as easy as it sounds. Tom, Meg and Benedict find themselves in a plot that is dangerous, and that will affect all their lives in ways they never imagined. Meg must try to remember, and eventually is faced with the choice to go back to the past with Tom, or make a future with Benedict, but also she must face the danger that put her in the circumstances she currently finds herself.
I did like this book, but I liked Meg's character way better before the amnesia, because she really changed too much after the amnesia. I liked the story line, and did not predict the end at all, so that was good. But overall, I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars for me because it was confusing at times, and I just didn't like it as much as her other books! I think Hannah Linder is an excellent author, but I didn't love this book, but I did like it, and would recommended it!
