Earth is destroyed by a genetically engineered species and a new planet is inhabited by humans. Planet Kvasir is a small planet where humans can barely survive and are split apart in factions controlled by the genetically altered mutants. The world of Kvasir is split in half by a wall making trade near impossible.
Flel is a forerunner that has lived on the planet Kvasir his entire life, but his grandfather passed down a book to him that has information about an artifact that goes back in time. Flel gathers up a party of forerunners to find the artifact once it is discovered that the transhumants are beginning to kill off the human population on Kvasir.
