The Rebel Mountain Reader reflects Mark's journey to discover and relate some of the great stories of the Confederacy's effort to break away from a political union where individual freedom, political rights and living the Christian faith had come into direct conflict with a rising Industrialism, a redefined nationalism, and an awakening centralized-all-powerful federalism. Many of them were compiled from research used to develop programs for presentation to camps of the Sons of the Confederacy Veterans in 9 states. They could be used by the readers for presentations to historic and heritage organizations. The first editions of The Rebel Mountain Reader focuses on the leadership of Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, and three under reported aspects of the war, the Confederate States Navy, the Red River Campaign and a small section on Christmas in the Confederacy.
