The Lord's Prayer in John 17 was motivated by love-which is a love that surpasses all understanding, the perfect love that can only be demonstrated by a perfect Heavenly Father through His Beloved Son Jesus. The apostle John, who uniquely called himself "the disciple that Jesus loved" (see John 13:23-26, ) John 19:26, John 20:2, John 21:7, and John 21:20-22) was inspired to write the words of Jesus, which constitute an intercessory prayer for His disciples and followers.

This brief study is meant to encourage the reader into a discovery of the depth of the glorious love that the Lord has for His own and why this is truly the real Lord's prayer.
