This is the third volume in this series "The Real Jesus." It presents the story of Jesus from the plots to capture and kill him, through his last supper, his sorrow in the Garden of Gethsemane, his betrayal, his arrest, his trials before Annas, Caiaphas, Herod, and Pilate, his scourging and humiliation, and his rejection by the Jewish mob, up to his sentence of crucifixion by Pontius Pilate. In these events, we see his gentleness and humility with his apostles, his tenderness for John Zebedee, his commitment to prepare Peter, James, and John for leadership, his determination to complete our Father's work on earth, and his quiet stillness in enduring the excruciating pain and humiliation of his scourging. He resists the Jewish and Roman authorities with great courage, silence, affirmation of his divinity, and piercing questions of his oppressors. We see clearly how he loves and cares for us and are moved by his willingness to endure great suffering for each one of us. This book is followed by Volume 4, in which we see Jesus carry his cross, suffer crucifixion, rise from death, reveal himself to hundreds of disciples, and ascend to heaven.
