Dan's name preceded him as all the mothers of the kids at school spoke of him with a dose of trepidation. Dan was a serial prankster, he had a short fuse and accidents would happen. Despite his naughtiness, he has always had a heart of gold. Apart from being the school Chess Captain and made a prefect to the amazement of all who knew him as easily one of the naughtiest kids in the year, he was a sweet, caring, loyal friend who just tended to get in trouble quite often. He went off the rails from time to time, especially at the age of 17, but, thankfully, besides all the tomfoolery, he turned out OK. The Rascal follows Dan through his troubled childhood and briefly into adulthood, using the 3rd person singular for reasons of style.
