EXCELLENT SHORT HISTORY OF THE RAILROADS - GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS

This is a very nice small volume addressing the history of the Railroads in the United States. It stresses the importance of this mode of transportation to the country. It discusses the early attitude toward the railroad, how it was built and how if affected people. The black and white illustrations by the author are quite stunning in thier simplicity and quite eye catching. Evan though the book was written for the young, most adults will find this one a rather fascinating read. It certainly gives a great start for the young learner. I do recommend this one.
