This workbook style resource offers (30) culturally responsive poems which foster critical and creative thinking, while building students social-emotional awareness. Each poem is accompanied by an "Analysis" section, a "Summary" section, and a "Create" section. In the analysis section, students have an opportunity to analyze and interpret specific lines in the poem. To develop higher level thinking, students are prompted to identify figurative language found in the poem. Students have an opportunity to develop reading comprehension skills by writing a summary of each poem in their own words.
