During finals week at the University of Cincinnati in 1949, History professor Adam Shaw is astonished to receive a telegram from his old friend, the Dalai Lama, imploring him to visit him in Tibet. Adam immediately feels a rush of curiosity and intrigue-something he hasn't experienced in a long time. When Adam arrives in Tibet, he soon realizes that this is no social call. The Dalai Lama wants him to retrieve the All-Seeing Eye, an artifact that has the power to create a great force of energy for those who possess, protect, and care for it. His Holiness fears the invasion of Tibet by Communist China and knows that possessing the Eye will help save his country and the very foundation of Buddhism. Adam and Tim embark on a quest to find the Eye-one that will take father and son on a journey of renewal in both their own lives and in their relationship with each other. They eventually travel to Afghanistan where it is rumored that a group of monks has protected the Eye for centuries. Will Adam and Tim find the legendary relic in time, or will father and son discover a much deeper understanding that some things are not destined to be found?
In this novel of discovery - of self and of circumstance - an adventurous history professor and his son seek a mysterious, life-enhancing "All-Seeing Eye," lodged, it's said, in the world's tallest Buddha. In the end it remains elusive - how could it not? But what a trip the pair have along the way, as engagingly described by Vernita Khosti, who conveys the beauty and variety of the land she loves - Afghanistan: "The crimson mountain shone like copper, the lakes and rivers sparkled like blue sapphires, and even the grass in the valley shone like glittering emeralds." A gem of a book.
An Enjoyable Quest

I thoroughly enjoyed The Quest For The All Seeing Eye. It took me on a journey to a place I knew little about. For those seeking a deeper understanding of the culture of Afghanistan, I highly recommend this novel. It is clear the author has special insight for this land and its people. Vernita Khosti did an excellent job exploring the country and the relationship between father and son. It is a story of renewal, well told.
The Quest of the All-Seeing Eye

This book was excellent for a first time author. The story was interesting and showed us a world that few of us in the USA have experienced. The father /son relationship was well developed and showed the challenges of becoming aware of your child who has grown into a fine man without your realizing it. Mrs Khosti's character development was thorough and the characters and emotions were easy to identify and to care about their story and experiences. I would recommend this book to all ages, it offers an awakening to other cultures and values held around the world. It is a fine book for those who enjoy mysteries, too.
