Everyone should have one!

What a delight! A book for women of all ages. Shelby goes on a quest to discover the giver of the magical umbrella, and on the journey discovers herself. Creative, and enjoyable, this wonderful tale is one you could read over and over. My favorite part was when Shelby goes to the home of a new friend and discovers a sense of belonging she's never felt before. My daughter loved the little rain jellies and their bouncing joyful life. Treat yourself to this well written tale!

What a marvelous book!

Well written and exciting. Excellent for young and old. A great example of the empowering adventures of a young girl. Shelby faces challenges with determination, honesty and integrity. She restores our faith in how special each our journeys are, even in the face of adverse situations. The stereotypes play a wonderful role in what she chooses and how judgement of herself and others creates hurt and confusion. I was touched by the way Valita Vinson has expounded on the dilemma of living a life of truth and integrity in the face of social lies and judgement. The magical touch brings lightness and delight at every turn.

Very good!

A very injoyible read. A great book for kids of all ages

I enjoyed reading this book.

This is an enjoyable book to read out loud to children. They enjoy the storyline, the word play, and the visual images. There is enough in the book to make it easy for adults to read it also, and the content is very worthwhile, especially in this day and age, when pre-teens are dealing with many personal problems. I would heartily recommend it, and I would like to see a sequel.

It was really good, but needs a bit of work.

I thought that this book was really cool. I liked Esmerelda and Shelby. I thought that the umbrella was a good character, and I especially liked how it changed colors. I think the book could have been more descriptive, and stayed in one place longer. I think there should be a sequel in which the skillfully willfullies steal Shelby's umbrella for revenge, and so she must return to Quirkola for another quest. Shelby and Esmerelda should have encountered more dangers, and I think that they should of hit a bad word in the sea of words. I think the part about the skillfully Willfullys was cool. I also liked the part where Esmerelda is teaching Shelby how to fly better. I also think that the antelope man's capture could have been more elaborated and difficult. I thought, all in all, that it was a really cool book, and even though I said 4 stars, it should be a 4 and a half. Write a sequel!!
