Few doubt AI is coming to support organizations in becoming more efficient. The amount of disruption is being debated. 62% of CEOs in a recent survey said their attempts at implementation failed. Many organizations are firing in advance to create the capital to invest in AI. Too many organizations are unclear about what the process needs. It needs two basic steps.
The first is an organization must have an engaged workforce willing to take the adapting. Secondly, the extent of the implementation must be decided. AI is difficult to implement when a workforce is already in overwhelm. It is difficult to install if the leaders are not trusted. It is difficult if there is not great clarity and transparency through communications about what the end game will be. As soon as a workforce hears about AI, their first reaction is massive firing.
The problem begins with having a detrimental business structure. Organizations have been built on the Newtonian system of command and control so there is adherence to policies and no mistakes. This immediately hinders adaptation. The new era requires structures formed on Quantum and Anti-Fragile principles where mistakes are data and humans are seen as having potential. Fixed job descriptions and little leeway to take risks or enjoy autonomy inhibit the immense level of experimentation and setbacks learning AI creates. This book discusses the why and the how to create the Quantum Anti-Fragile Organization.
