Overview of Quantum Computing

Conventional computers have long been the workhorses of the information processing industry, using bits to encode information as either a 0 or a 1. However, the shortcomings of classical computers are becoming more and more obvious as we dive further into the complexity of contemporary issues. Let me introduce quantum computing, a novel approach that utilizes the concepts of quantum physics to execute calculations that are not possible with traditional computers.

Fundamentally, quantum computing makes use of quantum bits-also known as qubits-instead of classical bits. Because of a phenomena called superposition, qubits can exist in more than one state at once, in contrast to conventional bits, which can only exist in a state of either 0 or 1. Quantum computers can handle enormous amounts of data in parallel thanks to their ability to exist in many states, which results in an exponential boost in computing capability.

Entanglement is one of the fundamental ideas that quantum computing uses. A quantum phenomenon known as entanglement occurs when two or more qubits become so correlated that, independent of their distance from one another, the state of one qubit directly affects the state of the other. since of their interconnectedness, quantum computers may be able to solve some problems far more quickly than classical computers since they can create quantum states that are not achievable in classical systems.
