Back in the days of the old West, there were no rock stars, no movie stars, and no teen idols. Teenagers grew up with tales of the Civil War, and stories of the outlaws and bandits who seemed to embody the very spirit and rebellion of the young; it was a temptation that many found impossible to resist. A female outlaw masquerades as a man, and the only person smart enough to catch her is a fourteen year old girl, who actually does so quite by accident. This is a strange time for women in this country; the Civil War had women masquerading as men in the armies of the North, and the South, and women grew to become very self-sufficient during this time. There is also a desire in women to rediscover the power that is femininity. This conflict, then, is between our two main characters; both of whom are young and looking for excitement. The call of the male world, and the call to a life of crime can be overwhelming in its excitement. Our two lead characters go back and forth between the male and female worlds; between the legal and the criminal. This is a very different kind of a western novel; it is a western that crosses genre lines, and develops the main characters in surprising ways. Taking its cues from the works of the Clint Eastwood style of western, the characters are strange, yet interesting, and full of unusual connections one to another . It also uses female lead characters to develop the story line, and offers a story of the Old West that could have actually happened. This was the fourth of five female-lead novels by George Roland Wills; a western, and taken from his 1991 release. _____ Author's Note: This book was written 29 years ago. It was edited and updated in 2017. All five of the original female-lead novels were also read onto cassette tapes and sold independently as WHEEL NOVELS by the author. This was during a time when the only audiobooks on tape were made for the blind, and these cassette tapes were the very first of their kind for sighted readers. The original versions of all five of these audiobooks can be found on George's CaptBeauregards Youtube Channel as audiotracks with the cover art as the entire youtube video under which the novel reads. ______ After watching MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL at the theatre when it first came out, George had had Alison Eastwood in mind for the lead role of Sunshine Jacobs, a/k/a the Sundown Bandit, and her famous father in mind as a cameo for Zeke Jacobs. ____ After watching THE MULE just recently, he was even more convinced that the pair would be perfect for these roles. That would be a dream come true, he said, for them to finally make this movie.________ http://www.thepursuitofsundown.yolasite.com_______ gallery_513@yahoo.com______ iwasbeowulf56@gmail.com
