Multicolored Browns Presents Growing up predominantly in the northeast and northwest sections of Washington, DC introduced JaNyce to a diverse and dramatic way of life, evolving her mentally. She embraced her creative spirit at age nine; when she wrote her first poem entitled What is this thing called life, and taped it to her bedroom wall. JaNyce has always loved to express herself in the form of writing. She also found out that she is related to the famous Renaissance writer Zora Neale Hurston. Her favorite influences include Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes. She continues to stay grounded in her spirituality, but keeps an open mind as she progresses in life. Revealing her struggles and triumphs in witty ways at times, to acquaint the reader with the issue, but not too silly for the worth and lesson she learned.
