The Pryce Connection: A Senior Sleuth Cozy Mystery
Julia Nakamura has read fourteen documents bearing the same signature. Same forty-one millimetres, corner to corner. Same three pen lifts, in the same three places. Same one-millimetre skip in the loop of the capital L - made by the same hand, at the same age, nine years running.
The hand that made it hasn't written its own name since 2015.
Somewhere in Bakersfield, a man watches trucks turn in a parking lot from a chair by a window, and holds - on paper, if nowhere else - the majority interest in a company that has taken more money from the estates of elderly Californians than every insured, licensed, bonded party in the structure combined.
Every document is true. Every fee is disclosed. Every schedule is initialed by the person it was taken from. That's the part Julia can't get past: nothing here is hidden. It simply isn't attached to anyone who owes anybody anything - and the man who built it once explained, out loud, at lunch, exactly why that was the beauty of it.
The Pryce Connection is the twelfth book in The Sunset Village Mystery Club, crossing over with Monterey private investigator Julia Nakamura - where a retired librarian's archive keeps finding the harm that was built to be invisible.
