The Book of Ezekiel is named for the man God called as a Hebrew prophet to the Judean exiles living under Babylonian rule. He lived through the decline of the Assyrian domination, the rise of the Babylonian Empire, the foreign control of Jerusalem, and the defeat of Egypt and Assyria by Nebuchadnezzar. Because Judah had become such a stubborn and obstinate people walking away from Yahweh to worship the gods of the surrounding nations, Ezekiel was chosen as God's voice to describe their sin and call them to repentance. This book is focused on the first twenty-four chapters-Prophecies of Judgment.
