A MUST READ!!!

The Prophecy (The Watchers Chronicles) is definitely a must read! From the onset I found myself excitedly anxious to delve into the `next' chapter to find out how the characters were connected and figure out the mystery of not only what kept them apart but what was bringing them back together in such a dramatic way. The characters as well as sequence of events were full of descriptive words and well developed that I could almost see the story play out in front of me. I love the way the author intertwined the past, present and future with such suspense, yet managed to give you moments of relief with comedic moments that let you know either she's been through a lot in her own life or she's done her due diligence in research. Either way it's the sign of a good author who know how to draw the reader in with relevance. Most importantly, although the ending left you satisfied it also left you with the sensation that the end was exactly the set up for the real beginning. I can't wait for the next one and hope to see this on the big screen some day! Harry Potter move over, kitty playtime is over!

LOVE It!

On the cover of this book there is a sticker that states "Guaranteed Good Read". Well they got that right! Dawn Miller is a new author to me, but I am not disappointed. I am very much a fan now. This book was incredible. Everything was easy to visualize and I felt the action and emotions as if I were there right along with the characters. It reminded me partially of that TV movie based on a book Fallen-something. But it was so much better. On the back cover it says that she is working on making this into graphic novel and feature film and oh that just gives me chill bumps I am so eager for it. This is a story of entertainment, but it is with a great topic that breathes through every page. This is a book about faith. Faith when it is difficult and hard. Listening for God in all situations and living your life accordingly to his word and will. I am surprised at just how much I enjoyed this book. Though it is marketed for young adults, I think anyone could appreciate the story. The characters are teens/early twenties and far from perfect. But faith is a budding things in progress and I can see plausible redemption for all of them eventually. Taking the broken and putting them into a form of healing, the prophecy will bring them together and possibly keep them together. Oh what will come in the rest of the series!!

delightful good, bad and ugly apocalyptic chronicle

As children, they encountered two groups of beings not of this world. One side tried to kill the five of them while the other saved their lives, but made them forget that horrific day. They all went their separate ways. However, Sam, Jonas, J, Carly and Jenna suffer nightmares. Sam is stunned by the horrible painting he created while asleep so he contacts the others only to learn they suffer nightmares too. They agree to meet in St. Louis, but on the road each encounters danger from adversaries trying to prevent their rediscovering what occurred. The quintet soon learns they are the Watchers caught in a raging war between warrior angels and fallen ones that normal mortals cannot sense engulf them. The Mazzi-kin know of the Watchers who are a key element in the end prophecy and like the Grigori want the five dead. However God's Warrior Angels are entrusted to keep these pivotal teens safe as the beginning of the end of the heavenly war has the teens playing pivotal roles. This classic good vs. evil spellbinding novel grips readers throughout as the audience and the Watchers learn of the heaven-hell war on earth. Each of the members of the human quintet is different with a couple unlikable. The three otherworldly groups come across genuine with diverse attitudes. The Fallen mated with humans against God's Orders and initially seemed sympathetic towards mankind but think of wolf in sheep's clothing; the Grigori are in your face evil and loathe humanity; and finally the Warrior Angels have no allegiance to the sons and daughters of Adam except as directed by God so they come across as superior and aloof. Ironically they are the savior group (besides the heroic teens) in a delightful good, bad and ugly apocalyptic chronicle. Harriet Klausner

Fabulous, keep-the-lights-on reading!!

Would you live your life differently if you knew there was an invisible world around you? If you knew there was more to life than you ever imagined? These are the questions raised by Dawn Miller's debut novel in The Watchers Chronicles. Imagine if Stephen King sat down with Frank Peretti and the creator of Heroes and they collaborated on a novel. Yeah, it's that good. And yeah, it will blow your mind. And maybe make you want to keep the lights on! Five friends from middle school, bonded together through a common experience that none of them can remember. Now they've gone their separate ways, each making choices that affect a lifetime. And that open doors to things they could never begin to imagine. Strange happenings: dreams, nightmares, flashbacks....all serving one purpose. To reunite these young people in one location for one feat that only they can achieve. Problem is, each holds a piece to the ultimate puzzle, with one holding the key. Dawn Miller is a MASTER at building suspense, foreshadowing and giving you just enough breadcrumbs along the trail of pages to keep you guessing. She is a word crafter of the highest caliber, and I'm eager for more about Jonah, J, Jenna, Carly and Mikey. I had a hard time remembering that these characters (with the exception of Mikey) were all supposed to be in their late teens. The novel is supposed to be geared toward a young audience, but I found it engaging and captivating. Portions of the story reminded me of Stephen King's "It"; other parts reminded me of the first season of "Heroes"...and the spiritual overtones of one of Frank Peretti's earlier works left a fragrance that grew sweeter as the novel progressed. Reading "The Prophecy" was a real treat. I haven't found any information about future volumes, but it would be a tragedy if Dawn didn't write more about these amazing and well-developed characters. I'm giving this one five out of five bookmarks, with a paintbrush as a charm. Don't miss "The Prophecy", published by Zondervan. It may say teen fiction on the back, but adults will dig into the story and get lost in the mystery. Thanks to my friends at Zondervan for surprising me with this terrific story!

Dawn Miller gives Frank Peretti a run for his money

Five former best friends are literally being haunted by their past. A past they have no memory of. As invisible forces battle over their very souls, the five struggle to remember their unique past to rip the scales from their eyes and finally see the truth that will save the souls of billions. But it already may be too late for some... The Prophecy is a little bit heart wrenching drama and a lotta bit incredibly creepy thriller complete with an age old message of supernatural proportions told a fresh new voice: things are never as they seem. It's refreshing to read a YA thriller without a cliff-hanger ending for once. But there are still enough loose ends that you'll definitely want to read book two.
