The Promise in the Walls: A Last Vow Society Novel
Some promises survive the people who made them.
Probate litigator Claudia Renwick trusts documents because people lie. Former homicide detective Eamon Bell trusts patterns because one unsolved disappearance cost him his career, his marriage, and seventeen years of sleep.
They have not seen each other in six years.
Then Celeste Vane dies and names them both to administer her estate.
Her final instructions are precise: enter the old Saint Alden house together. Do not let anyone open the walls. And if they hear someone inside them, do not answer until they know what was promised.
Seventeen years earlier, Celeste's sister Lydia vanished. Now a missing financial file, a buried vehicle, a sealed service passage and a trail of fraud begin to reconstruct the night Lydia disappeared. Someone living is still willing to threaten, break in and destroy evidence to keep the truth buried.
But the house is preserving something too.
A voice where no voice should be.
A clock stopped at 4:12.
And the remainder of a promise that was kept only halfway.
To solve Lydia's murder, Claudia and Eamon must separate every impossible event from the human crime beneath it-and decide whether the love they lost can become something different enough to survive the truth.
THE PROMISE IN THE WALLS is Book One of The Last Vow Society, a connected series of mature paranormal romantic suspense novels featuring protagonists over forty, complete romantic endings, gothic atmosphere, human investigations and a larger mystery that deepens across the series.
