On the day the Lord placed Adam in His garden, the sons of God were watching Him, and the serpent was among them. And the serpent said, "Look! The man is naked and he does not even know it. I will go down and open his eyes so that he can see what the Lord has done to him." But Michael withstood the serpent saying, "You must not interfere with the Lord's plans, for if you do, He will curse you, and you will start a war!" The serpent replied, "If I do not go, Adam will perish for he lacks knowledge. Do you not understand that the Lord did not place Adam in the garden to cultivate it?" "What do you mean?" said Michael. "Adam is not there to cultivate, but to join the Lord's cult, for the garden is a prison designed to shut Adam off from the real world!" Michael responded, "It is not permitted for you to question the Lord's motives. It is your duty as a son to obey Him, regardless of what He does." Then the serpent became angry, and he looked intensely into Michael's eyes for a minute, and then said, "All it takes for evil to triumph, is for those who have the power to stop it to stand around talking about it instead of doing something about it. Now move out of my way, Michael! For I am going down to the garden to open Adam's eyes."
