Hattie Bebe Burley woke up very early and very grumpy and she didn't know why. It didn't help matters when she convinced herself that she couldn't have seen a teeny tiny witch fly by her window. Hattie Bebe was one unhappy little girl. She didn't like her looks. She didn't like her life and she wasn't that thrilled overall with her world.Then she discovered the folly of squishy wishy wishes, especially bad on rainy days. She was even more miserable when she unknowingly made a squishy wishy wish and the little witch dressed in black and a pointy hat accidentally turned her into a fish, a big silvery slimy fish Just as she thought she might have to stay a fish forever the tiny witch did something clever and turned her back into a little girl. Only the image in the mirror wasn't her. Because Hattie Bebe had not specifically wished to turn back into herself the teeny witch had turned her into someone else This is a fun book for kids to read, but the underlying message conveyed is a more serious one. The author's hope is that children will better understand the importance of accepting and appreciating themselves, physical flaws and all. Because flaws are common to everyone when all is said and done.
