The Problem Tree an interactive tool was designed by the author, Michelina Therrien, to help encourage children to identify, understand and communicate their feelings in a socially acceptable manner. Children become more aware of how these feelings may impact their level of functioning socially as well as in school and home. In this story the tree comes alive and empowers Christopher as he begins to understand he has feelings that are creating many problems for him. As the tree listens and magically writes his feelings on the leaves, Christopher begins to gain a sense of trust in the old wise tree. He learns that talking about his feelings to someone he trusts will help him understand and work towards resolving problems.
