Well, I'm a sucker for Stephen Cartwright's illustrations, and I knew I'd like this when I first saw it--castles, a little prince, a little princess--who could resist? Kids who love fantasy-type stories will adore this book, which is one of Usborne's Castle Tales series. "Everyday" happenings for a couple of royal children include dragons, castles, etc. In this episode, the Princess cleans up a little piggy. Yeah, it's cute, but when you get to the ending, you have to laugh! I won't give it away, but let's just say, I appreciate the off-beat sense of humor it takes to write a book this way. Note, the text is VERY simple, and written in the Usborne "First Reader" style. That means there's a simple line across the top (for your child to read), with a slightly more complex line or two at the bottom (for you, or an older sibling?). This makes it fun to "share" your reading experience, while boosting your little one's confidence in their reading ability! The same feature exists in the similar (if more realistic) "Farmyard Tales" series.
