In the novella, "The Princeling," twenty-four-year-old Max Chang returns to Beijing to tell his wealthy family that he is marrying a pregnant Caucasian American. His racist family uses all the resources at their disposal to stop him. To what extremes will the family go? They are crazy rich Asians but there is no happy ending. These linked stories showcase the diversity of outlooks and prospects among today's Chinese and strive to illuminate commonalities and differences as these characters navigate love, identity, parenthood, aging, and racism in the pursuit of acceptance in its myriad forms.
