Romantic Folk Tale

This is a wonderful story for children. I love the setting: Uncle Storyteller arrives and children pour out of their houses to hear his latest tale. He tells the romantic story of a lovesick prince who longs to meet the princess of his dreams who lives on the moon. As the legend unfolds, readers (and the children of the village) learn how the Dolomite mountains came to be so shiny and bright. This is a precious story, well-told and beautifully illustrated, as usual, by Tomie DePaola.
