*You sound as though it is a curse to know taste, smell and all the other senses dragons lack, even if you must enter another's mind to experience them. Would you prefer the curse of not knowing those senses at all?**The knowledge of how another creature feels is a far greater curse... Every time I kill an animal, I endure its pain and experience its thoughts: to flee, to fight, to save its offspring, but always to live. I have no choice but to feel it. Each time I kill another creature so that I may survive, I must kill myself in the process.* Maximilian von Fallingbostel brings you Arrival the first novel in the Prime Dragon Series. Brought to an alien world of dragons, wizards and bird-women, eight people struggle to understand their new surroundings. Who are the Prime Dragons? Who is the Ancient Matriarch? Why are wizards laying magical traps in a valley populated by bird-women? What is in the Angel's past that makes it so easy for him to kill... and is the rest of the group next on his list?
If you spent your teenage years: hiding out in someone's basement pretending to be a dwarven fighter, if you are a secret role playing nerd or S.C.A member, if you had to repurchase the Lord of the Rings trilogy because you wore out your copy, you will LOVE this book. This book is like dragon flight starts out slow, teleports you to a different dimension, and then really starts to soar. Bear with the exposition in the begining, and then hang on, you won't be disappointed.

The mixture of modern day characters in a fantasy world is a great start. Then you are sucked in by the different personalities trying to work together to survive and figure out what the heck they are doing there. And the bigger question why? I also really enjoyed the dragon's perspective on the situation. Anymore info then this and I will give away the story. So read this for yourself it is excellent, I can't wait for book two. Also recommended: Dune, the entire series; The Chronicles of Amber; and for light hearted reading the Hitchhikers guide series - Yes I like books that are in a series. On that note Sharpe, Hornblower, and Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander series.
Not bad for the first of a series

I am a great fan of Isaac Asimov and hooked on the foundation series. I moaned and complained bitterly until each novel came out. I believe I have found my next set of novels to complain about till they come out. Once you get through the first few chapters which introduce you to the characters, Dragon included, the novel fly's and is hard to put down. Although this is fantasy it has the feel of science fiction. The characters have substance and are believable based on their reaction to where they have ended up in this novel. I love the way this novel ends. It leaves so many opportunities for further stories about each character. My favorite characters are Lorelei for her utter goodness and John for just the opposite. In my opinion this is a very entertaining read and there is more coming... but when is it coming... I can't wait... oops I seem to be complaining.
