SynopsisThe Story revolves around Hoo and his nomadic family of hunters that he strives to insulate from the prevalent inhumanity of mankind during the latter stages of the last ice age. They undertake an annual pilgrimage northwards in the summer months to the only site where they deem secure enough to settle for any interlude, in symmetry with the seasonal, retraction of the arctic ice wall and the essential influx of the Arioch herds that they exploit to survive. The contents include accounts of individual talents and achievements that contribute to the greater cause and the adversity they confront is the basis for the plot.The sacred Crags are at modern day Creswell which depicts a dramatic setting of two mirrored cliff faces, with a wide ravine that has a river flowing through its centre and several caves that have been inhabited by man for over 100,000 years.
