The Prestige Of The Infinite

By George Santayana

Book Overview

""The Prestige of the Infinite"" is a philosophical work by George Santayana that explores the concept of infinity and its place in human thought and experience. The book is divided into three parts, each examining a different aspect of infinity. The first part focuses on the mathematical and logical foundations of infinity, while the second part considers the role of infinity in art, religion, and metaphysics. The final part explores the relationship between infinity and human consciousness, arguing that our awareness of infinity is a fundamental aspect of our experience of the world. Throughout the book, Santayana draws on a wide range of philosophical and cultural traditions, including ancient Greek philosophy, Christian theology, and modern mathematics. Written in Santayana's elegant and accessible prose, ""The Prestige of the Infinite"" is a thought-provoking exploration of one of the most fundamental and mysterious concepts in human thought.THIS 28 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Some Turns of Thought in Modern Philosophy, by George Santayana.
