Wonderful Summer Read

A great book for those of us who want something light but not soppy and not something that consumes our mind after we have put it down. An unlikely story at the beginning but it evolves into something very real after they move to CA. Viji is a great character but probably not very realistic. I look forward to more from this spritely and gifted writer. Enjoy!

Fantastic Read

The descriptions and feeling in this book really brought to life India for me as well as the life of this family living in Sacramento. I grew up not far from where the author set her book. I had goosebumps reading the accuracy of things that I had long forgotten. Bravo Ms. Sekaran! I look forward to reading more from this promising author.

Read this book!

This is a fantastic novel. I especially enjoyed the author's vivid descriptions of India and Sacramento and the complexity and originality of her characters. This is a great read for anyone who understands the difficulties of navigating between two cultures, or for anyone who appreciates witty and smart storytelling.

Read it in a weekend

I bought the book after hearing the author give a reading. Once I started, I couldn't stop. The characters are refreshingly original and the plot unpredictable. There's a reassuring sense of optimism throughout despite twists and turns and setbacks.

Great Read!

Fantastic book, it made me laugh and it made me cry all on my daily commute. Once I turned the first page I couldn't put it down. Great for reading sitting outside on a sunny day.
