Book Overview

What happens when revolutionary ideas turn into chaos?

In The Possessed (The Devils), Fyodor Dostoevsky presents a dark and prophetic novel about a society on the brink of collapse. Set in 19th-century Russia, this gripping story follows a group of radical intellectuals whose ideologies spiral out of control, leading to violence, madness, and destruction.

At the heart of the novel is the mysterious and charismatic Nikolai Stavrogin, a man whose enigmatic nature captivates those around him. Alongside him, a band of revolutionaries, driven by political fervor and nihilistic beliefs, plot a rebellion that will shake their town to its core. But as personal ambitions and ideological extremes take hold, the movement descends into paranoia, betrayal, and murder.
