A polytrauma patient suffers from one or more traumatic injuries, at least one of which is life-threatening. The quality of polytrauma depends above all on the association of lesions, and the complexity of medical management stems more from the interference of lesions than from the simple summation of traumas. The injured person requires early medical care by a trained, specialized team to resuscitate him or her without wasting time. The pre-hospital care system also makes it possible to direct the patient to a hospital structure that regularly receives this type of patient, through the intermediary of regulation and its coordination of the various responders (SMUR, civil protection).Accurate assessment of severity enables better management to minimize the occurrence of complications and improve survival rates.As not all injuries can be diagnosed and treated at the same time, priorities must be defined, prioritized and organized into a logical strategy.
