For nearly two decades Dan and Dawn have navigated their journey in polyamory by being proactive, insightful and analytical. Early on, there was very little information or resources available, so the adventure required them to learn from their mistakes as well as their successes. Each have multiple partners and have a history of polyamory relationships lasting multiple years. They have put the time and thought into creating a "toolkit" of knowledge others can implement to help their relationships survive and thrive.Dan and Dawn write in an anecdotal, conversational style that is easy to absorb and use.
I love Dan & Dawn's podcast (first Polyamory Weekly, now Erotic Awakening). They mentioned this book in a recent episode and I was moved to buy it.
Though I've been poly for a decade, in a variety of configurations and families, and I've recently entered a Triad. They are new to the poly life (particularly co-amory) so I picked up this book to brush up on my languaging of certain concepts and tools. Some of the tools I read and think, "oh yeah, I use that all the time!" but never had a succinct name for it. Other tools I think, "this is exactly what my partner needs!"
I'm here now buying a second copy for my couple to own since I've already marked mine up with all sorts of underlines and notes and stars (like, yaaass!! thaaat!!) :)
It doesn't matter if you're brand new or a veteran at this poly lifestyle--it's a good read to build or refresh one's poly toolkit. I'll mention that even someone who is not poly could read this and "get it". I'm tempted to buy a third copy to hand someone who questions my being poly in lieu of me having to explain my life choices.
