Obviously there is no "conspiracy theory" being inferred in this excellent rant, that is not the Point!! "Dudley Do Rights, and Do Gooders" who operate at tax payer expense, forcibly collected at the end of a gun, who really have never been needed in the course of history, at least not at the extent the system has them operating, is. The focus is on why do We The People allow the outrageous teaching practices and murderous law enforcement to continue? Answer? We love our tv.s and taxes more than real freedom. Democracy is three wolves and a sheep deciding what is for dinner, Liberty (A Constitutional Republic) is a well armed sheep contesting the menu. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Excellent book. I don't agree that it's a conspiracy theory book but it does show the effects that things have on our society when you look at the big picture, which most americans are unable to do equipped merely with a public education. On the "must read" list.
Ned Beaumont: Purveyor of fine bourbon and better stories.
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
He might be a Latin scholar, but more importantly, Ned Beaumont is a great man. This book is fantastic; it is easily one of the best books on the topics I've read, especially when there are so many boobs who try to dilute the truth on these issues. Beaumont does not hesitate to look into the situation with a rapier wit and a caustic tongue.
Not for the spoon-fed ignoramus

If you can get by the authors obvious venting, you will see that he offers some well-researched and experienced words to us. For those who are brave enough to look under the sugar coating and into the dark, fetid innards of our country. If you can't handle reality, don't pick this one up.
Not for Ninnies
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
Jane Austen once said, "I do not write for such ninnies as cannot read for themselves." Jane Austen and Ned Beaumont don't have a whole lot in common, but they do have that. Beaumont's reflections on the social conventions of our day, the assumptions that enslave us even while they profess to make us free, will be palatable neither to the head-in-the-sand lick-spittle nor to the paranoid who thinks there has to be a conscious conspiracy behind every privation of liberty. Rather, Beaumont shows us how the acceptance of social lies enslaves us even when there is no conspiracy. My favorite chapter was "Scientists Are Smart," in which Beaumont lays bare the idiotic pretensions of the most pretentious idiots savants of our age. No supercilious scientist who actually reads this chapter will ever again offer pronouncements on political or social issues. Unfortunately, that species of ninny is probably incapable of reading for himself.
