The Poems of Winnifred Elsaesser

Winnifred "Pat" Martha Elsaesser (1913-1998) was a poet and nature photographer from Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada. This book is a collection of her poetic works, compiled and edited by Luke Banda, her great-grandson. This is the second edition.
"Winnifred Martha Kendall (a.k.a. "Pat") was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1913 to her parents Gerald and Lydia Kendall. She grew up on their homestead in the District of Fir Ridge. She enjoyed their farm lifestyle and loved the animals they raised. She frequently spoke of riding her horse out to round up the cows at milking time and how the calves would excitedly romp and play when they were first let out of the barn in the spring. She married Armin Elsaesser on January 9th, 1940. Their oldest son Douglas was born in 1941, and shortly afterwards they moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where Armin's parents had moved. While in Vancouver they ran a boarding house. Their other two children, Colin (1944) and Dawne (1947), were born in Vancouver. Their memories of farm life in Saskatchewan were always on their minds and they soon packed up their family and returned to Saskatchewan where they bought the Rossmore Apartment Block in Prince Albert. They managed the Rossmore Apartments for approximately three years before they moved to their farm in the Winton District. They soon fell back into the farm lifestyle they loved. Pat loved to see things grow and always planted a big garden. She also had a large greenhouse in which she started garden seedlings and flowers every spring. Pat also loved to write poetry. It seemed every piece of paper in the house would have a "thought" she had written down about another idea for a poem. She passed away in Prince Albert on August 17, 1998."
