The Poem's Ballad is Sierra Hood's second book. The poetry within it dives deep into depression and what it's like growing up with sorrow embedded in your bones. Childhood is a main theme in this book, and different topics flow through the book like depression, anxiety, loneliness, love, sexism, and eventually, healing.
The special section in this book is called "Junior High Education, " not just because these poems were written in middle school, but also for the school essence it possesses. Every poem in this section is a different class. Sierra uses the special characteristics of each course to make a deep and meaningful poem with impactful figurative language.
