Stop debating protestants and let this book explain their beliefs to you
Published by Tobin Duby , 1 year ago
I converted from Protestantism to Eastern Orthodoxy ten years ago and have never understood why my wife stayed protestant. This book explains, better than any protestant I have talked to, the bedrock protestant believes about the world.
I gave this five stars not for its academic quality, because there is none. I suspect Roderick C Meredith must have had a genius level intelligence in order to be able to write such a cogent book while obviously never having been instructed in the crafts of formal research or argumentation. He is being used of God as a spokesman who can, finally, articulate why protestants think the way they do, and hold the view they do of history, all in one concise, ingenuous, volume.
These are the ideas that echo through all of protestant thought, but I’ve never heard them articulated as a single system. This is “the protestant version of history,” if you will. If you read this with patience, you will find out what the points of contention with other churches actually are (which will equip you for a debate if one comes up) but will also take away the need to debate so much, because you’ll finally understand why they believe what they believe.
