John Wesley spent less than two years in America. He came as a missionary, but left as a changed man. He arrived on Tybee Island, Georgia, on February 5, 1736. He walked, rode horses, and sailed through Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, through new lands of war and exploration. He left to go back to England, feeling he had failed. He left from "Charles Town", South Carolina, on December 22, 1737. Indeed, England prepared Wesley for America, and America prepared Wesley for England where God made him an overwhelming success.
