What if one great picture book could become the starting point for an entire feast of learning?
The Picture Book Pantry is a literature-based curriculum for K-3rd grade designed to help families homeschool in a simple, joyful, and inexpensive way-using great books, meaningful conversations, hands-on experiences, and the things you already have at home.
Volume 1 explores nine wonderful picture books:
How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World"Slowly, Slowly, Slowly," Said the SlothRed Are the ApplesLoud EmilyThe Seven Silly EatersTwo Bad AntsThe Song and Dance ManChanticleer and the FoxGrandfather Tang's StoryEach book opens the door to a whole world of possibilities. Travel around the globe, explore animals and nature, experiment with science, play with words, practice math, cook, create art, write, move, solve problems, care for your home, and have meaningful conversations-all inspired by the story you are already enjoying together.
Each book is organized around nine "shelves" inspired by Carrie De Francisco's A Home Education Handbook: The Story, Table Talk, The Words, The Wonder, Brain Food, The Creative Corner, The Move, The Home, and The Heart.
Inside Volume 1 you'll find:
9 carefully selected picture booksGeography and cultural explorationNature and science activitiesWriting and language activitiesMath and problem-solvingArt, poetry, music, and creative projectsMovement and hands-on activitiesCooking and Cook & Chat recipesFamily conversations and character-building ideasAdditional book recommendationsActivities designed to work with multiple agesInstead of a rigid Monday-through-Friday lesson plan, The Picture Book Pantry is a menu of possibilities. You don't have to complete every activity or check every box. Choose what fits your family, your children, and your day. Maybe you have twenty minutes to read and talk. Maybe you have an afternoon to explore, create, and cook. Either way, you're learning together. Most importantly, you don't have to do it all. The goal isn't to squeeze every last drop of learning out of a book. The goal is to enjoy the feast-to read a wonderful story, follow your child's curiosity, and discover where one good book can take you.
One Book. A Whole Feast.
