Oscar Wilde is quoted as saying, "We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell." Understood correctly, there is some truth to this statement, but we do not take it literally. Taken literally, it is very similar, if not identical, to the teachings of the NPD ("No Personal Devil") advocates. We, however, believe in a personal devil, not because we have been told to and not because we are repeating some theological dogma. We say that there is a personal devil because it is the simplest explanation for observations made with our own eyes. It appears to us to cause all the puzzle pieces of the Bible to fit together, harmonize, and make sense. It seems to us that his person is revealed over and over, in many places and by many biblical authors. In the Bible we hear the voice of Jesus speaking of him and to him.
