Jennifer Pepper's fmaily lives in a small missionary town called Esperanza. She and her friends, the Peppermint Gang, are starting a new school year that's full of possibilities> They even get to write for the school newspaper! Thirsty for adventure (and something to write about in their paper), the kids throw an "open tree" for their brand-new tree house, they interview many of the townspeople, and investigate/speculate about a sky-jacker named Evan MacBride. The gang faces puppy-love, bullies, growing up, and LOTS of adventure! In writing this book, Clifford weaves an intricate plot with excitement and sensitivity. She unfolds the story before the reader in an unpredictable yet believable way.
A must-read for Christian adolescent girls!

This is a wonderful book! As a Christian, this book by a Christian author is a breath of fresh air in adolescent literature. I am 20 years old, but I would have loved to have had the opportunity to read this book when I was a young teenager. I recommend this book to teenage girls between the ages of 10 and 16. Through the engaging and exciting story, Laurie Clifford weaves the reminder that God is always present with us in our struggles, and that He will provide us with whatever "tools" we need to get through the trials of life. Although this is written from a Christian perspective, I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in reading about the adventures of a young girl, Jennifer Pepper, and her friends, the Peppermint Gang!
