This was the first cookbook I bought when I went out on my own during the 1970s. It was not only a real cultural eye-opener, but chock full of sensible, tasty recipes from around the globe. This is peasant cooking at its unadulturated best. I loved and used it so much that my own copy has fallen completely apart. I would like to find another copy for my vegetarian son to use (though some of the recipes do have meat). This ia a gem of a cookbook for those who are culturally awake in its truest sense.
