Learn from the masters

Rossin's book is at once a memoir of his extraordinary years in a Chester, PA pawn shop and a distillation of the business lessons he gleaned while there. It's populated by characters like Inky Saperstein selling treasures like "Laidnear Leather" coats, box fans and cast away engagement rings. The sales guys are masters of understanding human nature and manipulating the needs of their customers to get a sale. No punches pulled. No cheese moved. You laugh at the gall of the sales guys and the gullibility of the customers. But importantly, you get quick, smart marketing advice you can apply to your business today. Rossin uses this parable motif to give his reader the benefit of his 30+ of marketing experience in a light-handed, delightful package. Spend a few hours laughing at Rossin's stories and walk away a more savvy business person.

I keep going back to this gem

The Pawnshop Chronicles offers a perfect blend of heartwarming humor and common sense business insight. It's both joyous and educational (if that's possible), with just the right amount of nostalgia thrown in. The stories Rossin relates are so real that I can almost hear him telling them to me. I only wish all business books were this entertaining.
