Beautiful and intelligent Ada Crawford is the daughter of prominent Abolitionists in New York City. Her parents decide that it is time for her to marry, and they choose a husband for her. Colonel Edgar Clark is a handsome and daring young gentleman whom they view as very impressive. Ada does not see much in him besides a massive ego.
