Blitar Youth Re-Socialization Institution - A Pilot Project. This pilot project, focused on the prevention of collective violence, was a collaboration of Dr. Margret Rueffler, PsychoPolitical Peace Institute and Dr. Yusti Probowati, Faculty of Psychology Universitas Surabaya, Java. The aim was to introduce empowerment to prison youth, using the project model, to allow them to develop trust through our regular visits and self esteem by choosing their own training activity. This in turn gives rise to self confidence and usable skills available upon being released from prison. The empowerment of some of these young people and their re-introduction into a productive life after prison will have a profound effect on the other inmates and youths, as well as their respective communities. The following account is of action taken at three month intervals over a period of 4 years, starting in July 2003. The results are also recorded.
