The Paradise Machine, a funny, silly science fiction novella about a group of ragtag heroes who search for an abortion clinic and leave Earth, where abortion is outlawed, to reach the last remaining legal abortion clinic, on Mars. Along their journey they learn about love, friendship, and some dark secrets about why they are there.
George Dexter is a gay science professor who builds The Paradise Machine, a device for inter-dimensional time travel, to leave Earth and its wars and hatred behind, and to reach paradise. But something goes wrong with his machine, and instead of paradise, he crash-lands on Alternate Earth, a strange world where men can become pregnant and sex is used to generate electricity. George gets knocked up by accident by a guy he meets there named Nick, and George wants to have an abortion, while at the same time trying to figure out what went wrong with his Paradise Machine, so that he can leave Alternate Earth and find paradise. He meets the young lovers Rufus and Sandy, who also want an abortion, and they go on a quest for Mars, where love and danger are waiting for them. They throw in their lot with a shady, crazy space pirate woman who just happens to be a fangirl obsessed with anime and video games, in order to be smuggled past the space blockade that separates Earth from Mars. Will they succeed and make it to Mars? Will George ever reach paradise?
This book also includes a bonus short story, The Slave Girl, set in a fantasy land where a slave girl named Serenity must fight to somehow defeat her mistress, a priestess of the Spider God Nozventnor.
