Manuel found all types of buried treasures while operating his Caterpillar 205 LC. For years, he brought back to the surface evidence of lives past from rare coins to family heirlooms. Nothing Manuel dug up had ever compared to what he discovered under the Palisades. Below the surface, about 85 yards from the shoulder of the Parkway, Manuel dug up a ragged woman's black winter jacket with matching scarf and hat. What he found concealed under the clothes sent him running for his co-workers. Sticking out of the ground were the skeletal remains of a human hand. Unbeknownst to Manuel and his fellow workers, their discovery would lead to the murder trial of the century.
