The Oystercatcher's Cottage
Coping with the death of a loved one is never easy. The loss of two lives meant Professor Nina Milton would get a second chance at life. An inheritance takes her far from her Rocky Mountain home to Mulberry Island, a barrier island off the coast of South Georgia.
Nina learns her grandparents were champions of conservation. They died a decade earlier, but their work is kept alive by a former student, Jan Erickson, now in her seventies. Working with Jan keeps Nina occupied, but nothing can drown out the pain of grief. When Nina befriends an ex-minister's wife and cancer survivor, Liz Lawrence, a new friendship is forged. Trusting Liz, Nina unburdens herself of a life-long secret.
Nina Milton encounters new challenges - the most significant being overcoming grief - topped off with a mouse motel, tropical storms, insects, feral horses, wild pigs, and the presence of prejudice among the island's small population. This is Nina's story.
